Home Made Honeycomb

August 28, 2011 crystalcakes

I have just made some home-made honeycomb with the kids and it was so quick and easy to make the kids loved it! so I thought I’d share the basic recipe with you as I haven’t blogged for a while.

This is the easy recipe that doesn’t need sugar thermometers or scales.

6 tablespoons of white sugar

2 tablespoons of honey or golden syrup

2 teaspoons of water

2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda

so what do you do?

get a silicone board or liner ( not greaseproof paper it really sticks! ) ready you’ll need it fast.

melt sugar, honey or golden syrup and water in a saucepan untill it boils and leave it to boil for a few minutes untill all the sugar has completely dissolved.

Then this is where the fun begins remove from the heat quickly add the bicarb and stir it will bubble up, pour on to the tray and let it set.

I just let the kids break pieces off but if you want neat pieces carefully score whilst setting then you can either eat or dip pieces into chocolate.

we had great fun making this and would love to know how yours turns out.

thanks for reading have fun!!
